New adventures in Spain
Along with My husband and our pet Corgi, I emigrated from Devon England, to Spain. Both in our 50s, we recently found ourselves empty nesters, our three Daughters now grown, following their own dreams.
We felt it was time for us to grab some adventure and new experiences.
We sold our family home, gave up our jobs, and followed our dreams.
We are now living in a traditional working coastal town, in the Safor region of Eastern Spain.
We are surrounded by Valencian Orange groves, and beautiful long sandy beaches.
I shop from weekly markets, and enjoy using the best produce I have ever seen. I am discovering new foods and enjoy cooking Spanish dishes for the first time.
Our life here is simpler, and slower, and the divine subtropical climate allows for plenty of outside activities.
The cost of living is so much less than in England , Our money goes much further!
In my blogs
I share intimate stories of the joys and challenges I have found, since we made our decision to emigrate, leaving loved ones behind.
Preparing for visa applications, navigating new rules, laws and bureaucracy (post brexit!) Selling our home, then living a nomadic life, waiting for our visas to be approved.
Discovering beautiful old towns and villages along the stunning coastline of eastern Spain.
Renting then buying our new home.. Enjoying wonderful fiestas throughout the year.
Being immersed into a different culture, with its customs, quirks & etiquettes.
Living life as an expat, learning the language, joining groups and making new friends.
A complete Lifestyle change!
I have written my blogs with honesty and humour. Sharing stories and photos from our first year in Spain, and beyond.
